Many of Us Live in Rebellious Bodies

The stringent, narrow guidelines for what makes a body acceptable in American (and, really, Western) culture are not accessible to so many of us. Furthermore, many of us get to a point in our lives where attempting to meet those stringent, narrow guidelines has caused our bodies, our minds, and our hearts deep and terrible harm. Or, we just realize what absolute bullshit those guidelines are because they exist as mechanisms of control for oppressive hegemonic structures such as white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism. We're not buying it anymore. We recognize the mainstream health fitness industrial complex for the toxic, problematic space that it is. We begin to reckon with diet culture, healthism, and anti-fat bias. 

​AND -- and this is important here -- we want to feel well. We want to feel as good in our bodies as we can on any given day. We want to honor our bodies' desire for certain kinds of movement, certain kinds of nourishment, certain kinds of care. We begin to realize that this movement, nourishment, and care is unique to our bodies, our lives, our histories, our experiences, our situations, our contexts. We notice that it is hard to get the kind of personalized movement, nourishment, and care we need from the toxic mainstream health fitness industrial complex. We begin to see how we need support in adopting models of movement, nourishment, and care that respond to our unique needs for healing and evolving beyond harm. 

​We embrace rebellion and seek weight-inclusive, body liberation-oriented health and fitness professionals and practices. Enter, Bad Dog Rebel.

* If you feel unwelcomed, out-of-place, or uncomfortable in mainstream health fitness spaces;
